History & Accreditation

The Faculty of Science and Technology (FST) – UIN Jakarta was established in 2002. The history of FST UIN Jakarta cannot be separated from the history of UIN Jakarta as a whole. The historical journey of UIN Jakarta is a reflection of the tireless struggle of Indonesian Muslims to have a higher education institution capable of producing professional and moral intellectuals, starting from the establishment of the Academy of Religious Sciences (ADIA) on June 1, 1957 until the period of 1960, as a faculty of IAIN Al-Jami’ah which was centered in Yogyakarta (1960-1963) and as IAIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta from 1963 until it officially became UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta in accordance with Keputusan Presiden RI Nomor 31 Tahun 2002, May 20, 2002.

The Chemistry Study Program under the Faculty of Science and Technology of UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta, was established on November 22, 2001 based on the SK MENDIKNAS/088796/MPN/2001. The implementation of education began for the 2002/2003 academic year in accordance with the Decree of Operational Permit Number DJ.II/216/2002 dated July 11, 2002. Since 2010, the Chemistry Study Program has been accredited B by BAN-PT.

The Chemistry Study Program of UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta aims to develop chemistry as a discipline of scientific values ​​that stands alone and is also integrated with Islam. Graduates of this study program are expected to be able to study, develop and provide services about chemistry to the community in a professional, quality, and Islamic manner.

The courses offered by this study program are: Islamic Studies, Arabic, English, Civic Education, Basic Chemistry, Basic Organic Chemistry, Basic Biology, Statistical Methods, Basic Social Sciences, Basic Physics, Structure of Organic Compounds, Chemical Kinetics, Instrumental Analysis, Environmental Chemistry, Calculus, Medicinal Chemistry, Nutritional Biochemistry, Chemical Industrial Processes, Petroleum Chemistry, Research Methodology, Nuclear Chemistry, Geochemistry, and Principles of Chemical Engineering.
